How it works
Start with a need.
Build skills that last.
Every partnership is different. Our approach keeps local priorities and practical learning at the centre.
Listen and define the need.
The organisation explains its priorities, existing expertise and the skills it wants to strengthen. Together, we consider whether volunteer support is appropriate and would add value without displacing local work.
Find a suitable match.
We explore the experience, availability and working approach needed. Both the organisation and volunteer need to be comfortable with the fit.
Agree a practical plan.
Set a clear scope, learning outcomes, responsibilities and timeframe. Agree whether support will be remote, in person or blended, and clarify expenses, preparation and relevant checks before work begins.
Work and learn together.
The volunteer supports the local team through mentoring, training or shared practice. The partner remains in charge, with regular opportunities to review and adjust the work.
Review and hand over.
Record what has been learned, share useful resources and agree the next steps. Success means the team can continue with greater knowledge and confidence.
The principles behind every step
Local need first. No displacement.
Practical skills transfer.
Respect for local expertise, clear expectations and an agreed ending guide the work from the first conversation.
